“HOME T.A.L.K.” In-Home AAC Setup & Training
Home T.A.L.K. stands for Try, Apply, Learn, Keep Communicating. These in-home sessions are fully personalized to help families build meaningful communication in their everyday home environment. Rather than direct therapy with the child, Home T.A.L.K. focuses on setting up the home for communication success and parent and caregiver coaching.
Session 1 (In-Home Assessment):
We identify communication gaps with your child to create a personalized home environment to support communication during daily routines (mealtime, play, transitions, etc.). Based on discussions, we identify opportunities for communication throughout routines and the home spaces. We create a list of needed materials, devices, and equipment to trial. This session typically takes 60-90 mins.
Session 2: (Deliver loaner trial equipment & materials)
We deliver and set up the materials in the home, providing real-time demonstration & provide hands-on coaching and strategies so you can trial them with your child and get feedback. We troubleshoot and give feedback to build your confidence supporting AAC, speech, and communication. AAC equipment will be loaned to you & your child, and a lending agreement will be signed with clear due dates. If the equipment works well, ordering info will be provided. This session typically lasts 60 mins.
Session 3 (Follow-up & Optimize)
We discuss how materials & equipment are working, make adjustments, practice, and deliver any more materials & equipment as needed. If different equipment is needed, we will complete an updated signed agreement. This session typically lasts 45-60 mins.
Session 4 (Optional)
This session can be used when more adjustments or support is needed to fully embed the program and increase opportunities.
After the Final Session:
You’ll receive a written summary via email with key takeaways, recommendations, and ongoing support options, including continued coaching sessions or virtual check-ins as communication skills grow. Treatment in the clinic.
